Carers Wellbeing Group

A monthly group which provides a space for Carers from all backgrounds to share their experiences and take part in different activities for wellbeing, with art therapist Ali Kitley Jones. The sessions are very relaxed, and offer a chance to slow down and take some time for yourself. If you would like to come along and need to bring the person you care for with you, that is not a problem.

You can see the poster & dates for this group on this page, and you will receive regular reminders if you’re signed up to our email newsletter.

Gather & Grow – Gardening Sessions

In 2023, we are partnering with flower farm Roots & Bloom, who have run a number of great sessions for us in the past, and from March 2023 onwards will be leading a monthly gardening group.

“Roots & Bloom is a non-profit flower farm based in S2. We grow and sell eco-friendly flowers, alongside using Social and Therapeutic horticulture to support people who are living with dementia. Our Gather & Grow sessions, delivered in partnership with Heeley Trust, enable people to become more confident, find friendship, and to be more engaged with nature and their community. We’re looking forward to a year filled with flowers, muddy hands and lots of laughter!”
– Gina O’Connor, Director, Roots & Bloom CIC

Dementia Friendly sessions

Several of our community groups/events are open to all (including adults living with dementia and Carers) such  as our Community Meals and Chairobics sessions. You can see flyers for these sessions posted below.

Additional Support Services

  • Telephone support– We can call you for a friendly chat and offer practical support, advice and guidance.

  • One-to-one meetings – If you’d prefer to have an in-person chat rather than a phonecall, you can arrange a time to visit us at either Meersbrook Hall or Heeley Peoples Park.

  • Playlist For Life Support – We are a registered Playlist for Life help point, helping adults living with dementia to create the soundtrack to their lives.  Playlist for Life is a UK music and dementia charity. They use the music of a person’s life to keep them connected to themselves and their loved ones throughout their dementia journey. Get in touch for assistance with making your own personalised playlist.

  • Creative Activity Packs have previously been posted out to our participants. These activity packs can be digitally downloaded here – See the download links below. Please note that all ‘Extra’ documents will need to be printed separately to the main packs.
